One of the great things about commercials is that they are short, and give me an opportunity to work on many different edits and styles in a short period of time. This really helps me develop my skills in many different styles.

A disadvantage of short material sometimes is that the voice-over takes so much space in the mix that it doesn’t make my sound design stand out.

I couldn’t resist posting this short piece of the beautiful Prominent commercial starring former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos. In the view seconds this excerpt lasts, I managed to create a combination of setsound, library sound effects, tailor made sound design and some layers of synthesizers that I programmed from scratch.
